If so, we are currently looking to recruit a highly accomplished Business Rates Officer with knowledge in Local Government Finance Act and Non Domestic Rating. This role is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic team focused on high performance against challenging financial and operational targets.
What we need:
An experienced professional who is an enthusiastic, committed team player with knowledge of relevant legislation, best practice, and customer contact procedures as well as associated experience in Business Rates.
What you will do:
You will be responsible for the administration and maintenance of business rates records in accordance with legislation and council policy, using the Council’s revenues software application. You will assist in business rates billing and collection, apply reliefs and exemptions accurately, ensuring an efficient and effective standard of service is provided. You will also provide advice and information to ratepayers and other external and internal customers on all aspects of business rates, process payments, as well as submit reports to the Valuation Office for alterations to the rating list. You will attend court hearings to assist the Council’s representative and discuss cases with business rate payers who may attend.
