Revenues Officer

Telford & Wrekin Council are looking to recruit a permanent full time Revenues Officer to join our busy team and help shape the future of our service. Full training and ongoing coaching/mentoring will be given. Homeworking will be considered for the right applicants.

We are seeking a permanent Revenues Officer to undertake a role in either our Billing or Recovery sections.

You will be part of our award winning Revenues Team, responsible for either the Billing or Collection of Council Tax, Business Rate and Miscellaneous Income accounts (Sales Ledger).

Full training and ongoing coaching/mentoring will be given.

We are looking for individuals who are committed to delivering a quality service to the Telford & Wrekin customers.

Homeworking will be considered for the right applicants. 

In Revenues you need a broad skill set, as you will be dealing with a wide variety of people, from council tax payers, businesses, benefit claimants and other support agencies.

You will need to be good with numbers, have an ability to interpret and explain legislation, and be proficient with using IT systems. 

The post holder should possess 4 GCSE’s, grades A – C, including Mathematics and English Language, or equivalent NVQ or other relevant qualification. 

Knowledge surrounding the legislation for the billing and collection of Council Tax, National Non Domestic Rates, Benefit Overpayments, and Sundry debt income is desirable however full training will be provided.

Whilst previous experience is not essential, you will require a sound knowledge of education, excellent communication and customer service skills, and a pro-active approach to all areas of work with a keen eye for accuracy.
