The Authority has invested in the creation of an additional recovery section within the Revenues Service.
With the responsibility for collection of approximately £1 billion of business rates and council tax this is an exciting opportunity to join the team and make a significant contribution to the service.
We are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic Revenues Officers with knowledge and experience of both council tax and business rates. The role will be predominately recovery based with a focus on contacting customers to negotiate and collect council tax and business rates arrears.
Along with strong customer service skills, ideally applicants will need to demonstrate experience and understanding of the regulations and processes related to council tax and business rates including liability, discounts, exemptions, and valuation matters. Full training will be provided.
You will be required to work both independently and as part of a team taking ownership of actions to ensure the prompt, accurate and efficient billing, collection and enforcement of council tax and business rates, in accordance with legislation, City Council policies and procedures, and to meet required targets. This includes meeting citizens and ratepayers face to face, updating records, negotiation, dealing with complex cases, telephone calls and processes, offering advice and guidance to citizens and colleagues when required.
