An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Revenues Officer to join the Revenues Team within the Finance, Improvement and Housing directorate.

 

The role

As a Support Specialist, you will be responsible for leading the administration, development of the Revenues and Benefits systems, as well as resolving reported problems from staff, involving database interrogation via SQL. Driving improved use of the current systems, undertaking project work to introduce new technology and improve existing solutions, working to translate user need / service delivery technical goals into service design opportunities for the department to pursue.

 

You will assist in the maximising of income collected by the Council from customers through Council Tax, Business Rates and the recovery of Housing Benefit overpayments within the parameters of statute. You will support the Lead Specialists in ensuring the subsidy received by the Council from central government is maximised through system interrogation. Working closely with Lead Specialist for Revenues and Executive Head of Finance & Strategic Housing on strategies for maximising collection fund. You will act as a change officer leading projects such as migration of existing Document Management System to Salesforce and system upgrades.

 

 

About you

We are seeking an individual who can demonstrate the following:

 

  • Deliver customer focused specialist advice in relation to Revenues Services, keeping up to date with current and emerging legislation, best practice and policy to ensure continuous development and improvement.
  • Leading on specific Revenue processes and compliance including, processes such as debt recovery, change of address and exemptions.
  • Able to comfortably advise on regulations and legislation and guide Revenue Officers colleagues.
  • Ensure statutory duties, policies, procedures and workflows for dealing with all cases are adhered to.
  • Ensure strict confidentiality is maintained and data protection rules followed.
