About this opportunity

As a Systems Specialist within the Revenues & Benefits Team, you will be required to work across the council’s Revenues and Benefits Team to provide an innovative, forward thinking support function within the service, including reconciliation of financial information, and the provision and maintenance of software and information technology support involving multiple Revenues and Benefits software packages, predominantly Capita and NEC Northgate.

Being part of a small systems team, your duties will include software testing, release installations, upgrades, running batch processes, and interfaces and producing accurate management information and statutory returns. You will be involved in the reconciliation of income, including direct debit and BACS payments, and the delivery of work packages (using project management methodology where appropriate), ensuring compliance with organisational objectives, consistency in approach and compliance with appropriate internal and legislative guidelines, which includes delivering training to the wider team on system functionality.

This role provides a real opportunity to play a pivotal role in the Revenues and Benefits Service, with the scope to contribute towards the implementation and delivery of digital solutions and automated efficiencies and future transformation of the service.

 

We are looking for a candidate who has:

  • Working experience and knowledge within a Revenues and/or Benefits environment
  • A sound knowledge, and experience of working across multiple Revenues & Benefits systems, including Capita, and NEC Revenues & Benefits or NEC Enterprise
  • Up to date knowledge of Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax and Business rates legislation
  • A flare for working with systems and well-developed ICT skills, particularly in MS Excel
  • A proven ability to meet strict deadlines with high levels of accuracy
  • A proven analytical and innovative approach, with a strong ability to problem solve
  • A great communicator and collaborator
