As a Head of Revenues, you’ll have a keen eye for detail and a passion for making transformational and cost-effective changes within Leeds City Council.    

You’ll be responsible for delivering efficient and effective revenue services for the council including council tax, business rates, general income, and overpaid housing benefit. You’ll make sure that the team follows the legislation and provide clear guidance that applies to their work, and that accurate and timely information is provided to senior managers, councillors, and partners when needed.

You’ll be an innovative and compassionate leader, working closely with colleagues, partners, and key stakeholders to plan, manage and continuously improve the revenue services.

About you

As our Head of Revenues, you will bring to the role:

• An IRRV qualification and/or
• Substantial senior management experience within a revenues environment of a large organisation
• Detailed knowledge and understanding of economic strategy and policy, understanding of local government and experience working on politically sensitive issues 
• Experience of successful leadership and management of large scale projects, successfully implementing transformational change 
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence, negotiate and establish credibility across sectors to enhance reputation and form positive relationships
• Evidence of building relationships with partners and key stakeholders to drive successful partnerships that deliver cross-sector priorities and outcomes

About the role 

As our next Head of Revenues, you’ll become part of the fast paced and innovative Financial Services.  The service works within a complex financial landscape to provide high quality financial information and advice to enable the council to deliver its priorities while achieving value for money. 

You’ll lead the team responsible for the calculation, billing, and collecting the council’s revenue. This role will manage the team and lead them as they can be dealing with challenging situations, particularly in the current financial climate. You’ll support your team while building collaborative relationships with senior officers and other stakeholders, understanding their needs, but providing challenge where needed. 

You’ll be closely supported by the Chief Officer of Financial Services, working with them to ensure the council and the people of Leeds are receiving an efficient and cost-effective service.
