An exciting opportunity has become available to join the Business Rates and Council Tax Management team with the Business Rates Department at Knight Frank LLP.
About the Role
Responsible for Client Account Management
· To support the Rate Payment Team.
· To undertake the duties of a Client Relationship Manager (CRM) for designated clients and the management of their caseload and portfolio
· To be proactive and use specialist knowledge in Business Rates and Council Tax to :
· Ensure Rate Demands are correct
· Ensure Exemptions and reliefs are claimed
· Ensure Demands are correctly noted and authorised on the Rates Management System
· Liaise with Rating Surveyors to ensure any changes in assessments are reflected in rate payment funding request.
· Ensure Billing Authorities are aware of any changes to accounts from rate appeal reductions.
· Ensure funding requests are authorised and signed off and supplied to the client in time for any funding run.
· Reclaim any overpayment or credits identified within the correct legislation and procedure
·
Undertake historical rate audits to identify any errors, omissions, and credits for any instructed client
· To carry out Bank Reconciliation
· To learn our Rate Payment Procedures.
· On occasions to support the Office Manager.
Undertake any other relevant reasonable task requested by the relevant Partner.
Technical Skills
· Ability to communicate with clients in a professional and helpful manner, face to face, in writing and on the telephone.
· Ensure all communication is responded to in good time.
· A specialist knowledge in Business Rates and Council Tax
· A thorough knowledge of the myriad of exemptions, discounts and reliefs available
· A good understanding of transition, changes to rating lists including splits and mergers and the impact of certificates
· Experience of establishing rateable occupation and liability
· A good knowledge of rating legislation & case law relevant to the role.
· IRRV qualification or studying towards one would be desirable.
Please note that it is a requirement of this role to have a full UK driving licence and access to a car that can be driven for business purposes.
