About the role

The Revenues and Benefits Service provides vital statutory services to the Council in the assessment and collection of Council Tax and Business Rates and assessment and payment of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support. These are challenging times in Revenues and Benefits due to

  • increased pressure to maintain our high collection rates
  • the continued requirement to process benefit applications accurately and quickly
  • the application of different charging polices • changing customer expectations
  • Welfare reform changes and the introduction of Universal Credit.

In order to meet these challenges, we are looking to appoint a Council Tax Team Manager to manage a team responsible for billing, collection, and enforcement of Council Tax.

About you

This is a challenging but rewarding role in a really busy environment. Key is the accurate billing of council tax accounts, ensuring we minimise duplicate customer contact and failure demand, getting the right information at point of contact, and ensuring we send the correct bill first time.

Utilising and expanding our online contact forms, and channel shifting residents to these forms is a key aspect of the role.

To be successful you must have in depth knowledge of council tax legislation and administration and be able to provide advice and support for staff and residents on all aspects of council tax.
