Revenues Officer

Grade 9 - £25,183 to £27,111 per annum

Full Time - 37 Hours per week

Hybrid/In office as required - Hastings, East Sussex

Hastings Borough Council is seeking a proactive and detail orientated Revenues Officer to join our team.

In this role, you will be responsible for administering the collection of Council Tax and Business rates , ensuring accurate billing, and assisting residents and businesses with their accounts. You will play a key role in maintaining the council’s financial stability while providing excellent customer service to our residents.

What we're looking for

The ideal candidate will have experience in:

• revenues administration
• strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• the ability to work efficiently in a busy environment and meet deadlines
• knowledge of Council Tax and business rates legislation
• competency in using NEC back-office system for data entry and case management. 

Key Skills and Attributes 

• Administer the billing, collection and recovery of Council Tax and Business Rates
• Process applications for discounts, exemptions, and relief in line with legislation
• Investigate and resolve customer queries efficiently and professionally.
• Liaise with residents, businesses, enforcement agents, and other stakeholders
• Ensure accurate maintenance of records and compliance with data protection laws
• Assist in identifying and recovering outstanding debts
• Stay updated with relevant legislation and Council policies.

This role requires a basic DBS check in line with BPSS requirements.
