£16,475 per annum | Full time (37 hours per week, including a day to attend college/training course) | Temporary (20 months approx)

Are you looking for a career in Local Government? We are looking for enthusiastic and committed individuals to join our Revenues and Benefits Teams, to assist with the delivery of a customer orientated and effective service. As part of the role you will supported through a Level 4 Institute of Revenues, Rating & Valuation (IRRV) Revenues & Welfare Benefits Apprenticeship, which will include on the job and off the job training.

As a Benefits & Revenues Apprentice you will work alongside your colleagues to deliver timely and accurate assessments of claims for Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support, and assist with the administration and collection of Council Tax; therefore attention to detail and the ability to digest complex rules and regulations is important to us. Whilst relevant knowledge and experience is desirable, full and extensive training on Benefits Legislation and the Council Tax Support scheme will be provided.

As a Revenues & Benefits Apprentice you will work alongside your colleagues, dealing with all aspects of the billing, collection and recovery of Council Tax & assist with the correct administration of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support. This will include responding to enquiries from the general public, the correct application of discounts, exemptions and recovery work which will include setting instalment arrangements, taking payments and overseeing enforcement action. Attention to detail and the ability to digest complex rules and regulations is important to us.

We pride ourselves on the excellent delivery of our service, therefore it is essential for the successful applicant to gain experience of working with the general public and excellent communication and customer service skills, experience of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines, as well as being courteous, tactful and resilient and having the ability to absorb and apply the requirement of complex legislation.
