Job Description
The role will be varied as you will be dealing with a wide variety of people and ICT systems, being responsible for data input and the processing of information, providing advice and ensuring residents receive accurate bills and correct benefit payments.
Alongside your role in the Revenues and Benefits team you will be working to complete the Level 4 Revenues and Welfare Benefits Practitioner Apprenticeship qualification through the Institute of Revenues, Rating and Valuation (IRRV). On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will also be awarded the Certificate of Local Taxation, Revenues and Welfare Benefits (Tech IRRV).
The apprenticeship will take approximately 18 months to complete through a blended approach combining virtual training days, online webinars, work shadowing and workplace mentoring.
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, there may be an opportunity to secure permanent employment in the Revenues and Benefits team.
Responsibilities
You will assist with the accurate billing, collection, and recovery of council tax, business rates, and the BID levy; reconciling accounts and understanding transaction postings, discounts, exemptions, and premiums; and making payment arrangements based on the ability to pay.
You will support the accurate processing and payment of housing benefits and council tax support, with an understanding of Universal Credit.
You will be dealing with customers, their representatives, and other stakeholders by providing clear and accurate information and advice, maintaining appropriate communication (e.g. email, letter, telephone), and answering customer enquiries via email, phone, and face to face.

Educational Requirements
You will have a good standard of education to GCSE level including minimum Grade C/ 4 in English and Mathematics or equivalent, if you are under 19 years of age and don’t have the above, you will be required to undertake the functional skills qualification and will be required to undertake courses in Maths and English, which you can undertake at the same tim
If you are aged 19 and over, you do not require any qualifications to undertake the apprenticeship.
