Business Smart Solutions

Salary £35,000 - £35,000

Closing Date 31st of October 2025

About Us

At Business Smart Solutions aka #TeamBSS, we specialise in all things Revenues & Benefits, from interim and permanent recruitment to training and Housing Benefit subsidy.

As we continue to grow, we’re looking for someone who shares our understanding of the sector and passion for supporting Local Government to join our team as a full-time Revenues & Benefits Talent Partner.

We’re not a high-volume recruitment agency; we’re a specialist partner. Our focus is on understanding our clients’ operational needs, the systems they use, and the people who make their services run effectively. We pride ourselves on our unmatched industry knowledge, transparency, and commitment to ethical recruitment practices.

The Opportunity

This role is ideal for someone who has spent several years working within Revenues & Benefits, ideally across multiple Local Authorities. You’ll have hands-on experience with the different processing systems, and operating models used by councils - understanding how MRI(Academy), NEC(Northgate), Civica OPENRevenues, and other platforms each shape the way services are delivered.

You’ll bring a solid grasp of the legislation and policy frameworks that underpin local taxation and welfare delivery, and you’ll know how those translate into practical service demands. Because you’ve seen how different councils operate, you’ll recognise what good service delivery looks like - and you’ll use that insight to identify and match the right people to the right roles.

You’ll be working across the full recruitment cycle (360), which means you’ll be involved in every stage of the process, including:

· Building and maintaining relationships with Local Authority hiring managers

· Understanding service structures, system requirements, and the specific challenges our clients face

· Writing clear, engaging job adverts that reflect both the technical and cultural needs of each role

· Proactively sourcing candidates through databases, referrals, social media, and networking within the Revenues & Benefits community

· Screening and shortlisting candidates, assessing both skills and service experience

· Submitting candidates through third-party vendor platforms and managing all client communication

· Overseeing full BPSS compliance, including ID verification, right-to-work, and referencing

· Preparing offer letters and contracts, and supporting candidates through onboarding

· Attending regional and national events such as LACEF and IRRV to represent BSS, network with sector professionals, and strengthen existing relationships

During conference season (May to October), there will be an expectation of some travel (typically 2–3 days at a time) to support events and exhibitions.

About You

You’ll have a strong background within Revenues & Benefits, ideally having worked for more than one Local Authority or shared service partnership. You understand the operational pressures of public sector delivery and the kind of expertise councils need when recruiting.

You’ll likely have:

· Proven experience in managing or leading teams, including responsibility for recruitment and selection

· An excellent eye for assessing skills, experience, and potential - knowing how to recognise the right fit for each client

· Strong relationship management skills - you’re confident engaging with senior managers, hiring managers, and candidates alike

· A proactive and organised approach, able to manage multiple priorities and deliver results efficiently

· A genuine interest in supporting Local Government and helping skilled professionals find rewarding roles

· A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential).

Previous agency recruitment experience isn’t required, but we are looking for someone with transferable skills who has dealt with recruitment and selection within a LA. What matters most is your sector knowledge, professionalism, and desire to help people succeed.

What We Offer

Joining #TeamBSS means becoming part of a collaborative, values-led business that recognises the importance of expertise and trust in public sector recruitment.

You’ll benefit from:

· A competitive basic salary of £35,000.00pa

· A progressive uncapped commission structure

· 33 days of paid leave (inclusive of Bank Holidays)

· Workplace pension and business related expenses

· Fully remote working arrangements, with the expectation there will be ad-hoc travel to attend networking events / professional/client meetings

· Ongoing professional development and support

· Opportunities to attend networking & social events and become a visible member of the sector’s professional network

This is an opportunity to bring your Revenues & Benefits experience into a role that values your knowledge, supports your growth, and gives you the chance to influence how Local Authorities access the talent they need.
