MAIN JOB PURPOSE: To support the Business Rates Manager and Business Rates Team Manager in day-today operations, assisting in the billing, collection and recovery of business rates (Non-Domestic Rates) to ensure business rates income is received promptly and efficiently.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. To support and deputise for managers in day-to-day operations as required.
  2. To work alongside the Resilience Officer to deliver training and provide support and assistance in delivering projects.
  3. To support the Business Rates (NDR) team in dealing with complex cases and customer enquiries, and to provide advice, guidance and mentoring to colleagues.
  4. To be familiar with and keep up to date knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures and case law.
  5. To liaise closely with staff across Anglia Revenues Partnership along with all departments of the council, government departments, external bodies such as the Valuation Office Agency, Enforcement Agents, advice agencies and members of the public, to ensure an excellent and efficient service is provided.
  6. To assist in meeting audit recommendations.
  7. To assist in preparation of DPA/FOI requests and drafting of complaints
  8. Prioritising workloads in order to achieve targets, projects, external contractual requirements and maximise revenues.
  9. To perform to the standards and behaviours of ARP’s operational values and encourage others to do so.
  10. To assist the council’s representative at court if required.
  11. To process business rates enquiries by operating various IT systems within targets set at any time.
  12. To deal with reports and other tasks that are the responsibility of the NDR team and the wider Revenues department.
  13. To ensure prompt and accurate payment of Enforcement Agent invoices, ensuring all Enforcement Agent fee accounts reconcile.

 

  1. To undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required and compatible with and/or arising from those listed above or directed by a Head of ARP or Principal Manager.
