System Analyst (Benefits)

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a System Analyst (Benefits) to join a friendly and experienced team providing first-class support for a team of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support Assessors and the public.

As a System Analyst you’ll help customers with a wide range of technical queries, ensuring business-critical systems run smoothly while maintaining excellent customer service standards.

The System Analyst role offers variety and challenge, supporting web-based applications across modules such as Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support, Discretionary Housing Payments and Document/Case Management. You’ll be working within a fast-paced technology environment where no two days are the same.

We're seeking a dedicated and proactive individual to join our team and lead our efforts in supporting the team of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support Assessors promoting financial well-being and providing solutions to those facing financial hardship.

Key Responsibilities:

You would be responsible for the daily maintenance and monitoring of the NEC software system, providing an accurate and quality technical service to the Benefits Service, including:

  • Ensuring payment allocation and other Benefits processes are run on time to ensure recipient systems are up to date, fit for business and reconciled.
  • Prompt and accurate production of Direct Debit and BACS income collection files to maximise income collection and protect the authority’s interests in relation to Housing Benefit overpayments.
  • Implementing new and updating existing software and robustly testing systems, functionality used by the Benefits service, and in co-ordination with the System Development and Monitoring officer document new procedures.
  • Investigating and resolving technical issues for the public and internal users

About You

We are looking for a dedicated and proactive individual to join our team who can provide quality technical support. We are looking for exceptional candidates with a range of skills including:

  • Experience: Of assessing Housing Benefits/Council Tax Support entitlement, and an understanding of the changing regulations and the impact to our service delivery.
  • Knowledge: Good ICT skills and familiarity with digital systems for the management of HB/CTS claims and payments, having used them to achieve maximum revenue recovery and data reporting.
  • Communication: Good communication skills for liaising and consulting with 3rd party suppliers / software system suppliers demonstrating good technical understanding of the applications.
  • Problem Solving: Proven ability to think critically, find solutions, and navigate digital systems, supporting internal users and residents accessing on-line services.
