We are looking for enthusiastic and positive individuals to work as part of and to provide support, training and mentoring to, a team responsible for the administration and processing within the Revenues Service.  

The Council Revenues and Benefits Service is responsible for Billing, Collection and Recovery of Council Tax, Business Rates and Housing Benefit Overpayment & Sundry Debt.

We welcome collaborative thinkers, excellent communicators, enthusiastic to work in conjunction across sections and can demonstrate a clear customer focus with established customer service skills balanced with effective service delivery.

We are looking to appoint multiple positions to permanent, primarily, full time posts across our Council Tax Billing, Collection, Recovery, Business Rates teams at 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with the positions to be based at Howden House.

We currently operate a hybrid working pattern with the expectation of a minimum 20% attendance in office. 

For this role you will need a range of skills and experience, and including:

  • Experience and in-depth working knowledge of Council Tax, Housing Benefits Overpayment & Sundry Debt and Business Rates.
  • Experience and knowledge of accurate Billing, Collection, Recovery across teams and various income streams.
  • Experience of the collection and recovery of a range of local authority debts and a detailed knowledge of maximising revenue throughout the recovery cycle
  • Excellent I.T. skills. There is a requirement to be familiar with Revs&Bens processing systems and Microsoft Office 365 applications particularly Excel and Word.
  • Experience and knowledge of a customer focused approach to service delivery, balanced with the needs of the service users.
  • Experience of dealing with internal & external customers via all available communication channels.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
