Benefits & Welfare Officer - Fixed-Term (12 months), Full-Time, 36.25 Hrs per week x 2 posts.

Basildon’s Revenues and Benefits are a nationally recognised award winning service. We are responsible for the billing and collection of Council Tax, Business Rates and Sundry Debtors, and we administer the Housing Benefit scheme and Local Council Tax Support and Reduction schemes.

The role of the Benefits and Welfare Officer is to administer all aspects of Housing Benefit and Local Council Tax Support assessment as well as Discretionary Payments and supporting the Welfare Teams, ensuring a high standard of quality and accuracy of work in accordance with law, regulations and guidelines.

We are looking for someone who has a good understanding of Benefits, ideally with experience of working in a Benefits section and to have knowledge of Welfare Benefits law and procedures. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and an effective team player, with excellent customer care and communication skills.
