An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Benefits Officer to join our Exchequer team.

Working as part of our busy Benefits team, you will provide support and guidance to customers over the telephone and in person, advising on all benefits related queries and issues.

You will also assess and process applications for Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support and changes of circumstances, ensuring the information in the Civica system is accurate and up to date.

With a minimum of three years’ experience, you will be fully proficient in the assessment of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support applications and have good, detailed knowledge of the current legislation.

With proven experience of dealing with customer enquiries, including those of a complex nature, you will also have excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work as part of a busy team to deliver a great Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support service to our residents.

Good organisational, administration and IT skills are a must, along with the ability to work unsupervised to meet deadlines.

The position is hybrid working, offering home working with the requirement to work at the Council Offices on a weekly rota basis.
