Redbridge is one of the most exciting places to be in London right now. Ambitious regeneration plans and new investment are delivering generational change for the borough, enhancing quality of life and creating new opportunities for our communities. And we are modernising our organisation to be more agile, innovative and impactful. We are harnessing the full potential of our people as well as technology to shape a modern and innovative local authority. We need leaders who are ready to take things to the next level.
This is a key leadership role in the Council, with responsibility for the effective and efficient collection of rent across the Housing Revenue Account and Temporary Accommodation. We are looking for someone who can bring a sharp focus on improving rent collection, debt recovery and cashflow across the Council, and who has an excellent appreciation of the practical steps on the ground that can make an impact in this area.
You’ll have overall responsibility for a large team (22 people), so it’s important that you have excellent people management skills, working with the team to embed a customer-centric approach while continually looking for opportunities to improve performance, utilising technology to enhance the team’s capacity and provide an easily accessible and consistent experience for tenants. You’ll support the team in making connections across the council, so that we can offer a more rounded and joined-up approach to supporting customers who need additional support. And you can expect considerable contact with elected members, so it’s essential that you can deliver accurate and timely reporting on performance and be confident in your own knowledge of the detail that sits within it.
Redbridge is a hugely diverse borough. So, it’s essential that you appreciate the particular challenges of pursuing arrears and enforcement in such a setting. Early intervention strategies will be key in reducing overall arrears, while we will also look to you to accelerate the court process in relation to more serious cases. You’ll work to ensure clear and consistent messaging to residents, backed up by efficient systems and processes in order to maximise income.
We expect that you will already have significant experience within a rent collection or debt recovery setting that has included managing teams and resources within a target driven environment.
